Nor'Easters Win an Amazing Thanksgiving Match Against Wethersfield!

The game was tied 7-7 with two seconds to go.
Click below to see our cheerleaders doing a good luck cheer during the final play of the game. The second link shows the last play of the game (you need to fast forward to the end). These are both "must sees". After this unbelievable 13-7 win, we are now in the playoffs with a home game Tuesday evening at Alumni Field.

Our Educators and Students are Doing Amazing Things!

John Wallace Renovation Updates
The renovations at John Wallace continue to move along in the right direction! Staff were able to attend a walk-through last week to see the progress. Board Chair Amy Perrotti and I were so excited to see how happy the teachers were with the reno to date. We are on track for students to be back in one newly finished wing after the Christmas break!

HOSA Guest Speaker
On Thursday, our HOSA Future Health Professionals students at NHS had a guest speaker at our November meeting. Steve Walling, Director and Clinical Coordinator of the School of Cardiovascular Technology at Saint Francis Hospital, came to speak to the students about careers in Echocardiography. He runs the Echocardiography school and is also a practicing echocardiographer. Saint Francis is one of the top echocardiography schools in the nation, where students come from all over the country to learn. He showed incredible videos and graphics of the heart and conditions such as mitral valve prolapse and septal defects. Hopefully, some of our students may now consider a career in Echocardiography that they had never know about before.

Mindfulness Lesson
Mrs. Inzero engaged students in a valuable lesson on mindfulness in the Mental Health Seminar this week. Students learned how to identify where in the body they were feeling tension, the importance of their breath,
self-compassion meditations, yoga practices and more. Students were grateful for this opportunity as they learned several meaningful coping skills to help manage their feelings, stress or anxiety.
DECA's Trip to Washington, D.C.
Newington DECA participated in the national Ultimate Power trip. During our trip to Washington, D.C. we ventured to the Smithsonian, Spy Museum, Pentagon, and an escape room. All chapter members participated in the practice competition with Monica Kowalczyk being recognized as for competitive excellence. Students attended various different labs including college success, networking & communication, chapter quality improvement, and much more! After our long day at the conference we headed to a DC Night Tour where we went to various monuments, including the White House, Capital, Washington Monument, and the MLK Jr. Memorial. Our closing session keynote speaker was motivational speaker and comedian, Josh Sundqueist who quoted “One more thing, One more time,” which means to adapt and overcome the odds. This was a great conference with lots of memories.
