8th Grade Students and Families
Over the past week, our grade 8 school counselor has been in Social Studies classes sharing a slide presentation with all students about the transition to Newington High School. Grade 8 teachers are currently making recommendations for students’ 9th grade core courses. When the course selection portal opens in PowerSchool students will be able to view those recommendations. Between now and the week of February 6th, students should be choosing three (3) first choice electives they are interested in as well as three (3) back up electives in preparation for course registration. Students will be registering for grade 9 classes on-line in school beginning the week of February 9th with their grade 8 teachers and school counselor. Resources such as a link to the NHS Program of Studies as well as a list of 9th grade electives can be found in their SS Google Classroom.
